Bumbling ANC and waiting for Godot

POSTS & NEWS Bumbling ANC and waiting for Godot A story of broken political promises 10 AUGUST 2026 Dr. Johan Reid 3 MIN READ Irish writer Samuel Beckett first published “Waiting for Godot” as “En attendant Godot” in French in 1952. The review by Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica offers the following summary: “The tragicomedy features conversations between the 2 main characters, Vladimir and Estragon, a pair of human beings who do not know why they were put on this earth, but they make the assumption that there must be a point to their existence and look to Godot for enlightenment. Godot repeatedly sends word that he will appear, but never does. Because Vladimir and Estragon hold out hope for meaning and direction, they acquire a kind of nobility that enables them to rise above their futile existence”. Since April 1994 the ANC has repeatedly promised a better and fairer non-racial South Africa, more prosperity for all, more jobs, better housing and sanitation, better education than the “Bantu Education” of the Afrikaner Nationalists, better custodianship of the SA economy, more efficient running of State owned Enterprises, cleaner government, effective border control and policing, individual safety and security, efficient local authority services for all, reliable public transport, respect for human rights and quality healthcare for every citizen. Oh yes, the cadres said and are still saying, the state, as governed by the ANC, would deliver it all. Godot never came. ANC never delivered. And never will. ANC is clueless, feckless and at the ceiling of their own incompetence. Along the way, individual South Africans, like Samuel Beckitt’s Vladimir and Estragon, have acquired a kind of nobility that enabled them to rise above their futile existence under ANC communist rule. Individual South African entrepreneurs, big and small, are resilient and creative survivors of the most useless government imaginable. It is beyond time that South Africans are set free from the suffocating yoke of command and control socialism/communism and rampant corruption. Reduce personal income and corporate taxes, scrap all restrictive labour and race based laws, sell State owned Enterprises, sell unproductive state owned land and properties, get the state out of the economy, scrap senseless red tape, tax incentivize home ownership, introduce equity participation for meritorious employees, start privately administered third party insurance for every vehicle on the road and scrap/close the bankrupt Road Accident Fund, encourage private education and embrace private healthcare for all (a medical aid for every South African, from birth to death). Untrammeled human ingenuity and freed, unshackled individual entrepreneurship will save South Africa, for the benefit of all citizens. If you continue to hope (and vote) for the ANC to smarten up and to deliver, you will wait forever. Like for Godot. Museum for Career Politicians

POSTS & NEWS Museum for Career Politicians A summary of the South African Political Circus 14 AUGUST 2026 Dr. Johan Reid 5 MIN READ South African voters will before long dispatch the surfeit / annoyingly abundant numbers of useless career politicians to the museum. Tito will be the chief cook. All and sundry will be fat (sorry, the F word is not PC, replace with “their circumferences will outstrip their height”), but the museum will be bankrupt in no time. Ace will be in charge of procuring dairy and liaison with the nearest dairy farm. You need not worry, no one in the museum will be afflicted by lactose intolerance. Entitlement, narcissism and delusions of grandeur yes, but no lactose intolerance. Nobody will want to do business with the museum, but Pravin will insist that the facility must be salvaged from the dead and recapitalized as the nation requires a command and control museum. Samson Gwede and Tito both eye the delivery girl, but Gwede wins out as the more generous blesser. His abdomen bulges with pride. After all, his first name is Samson. Helen Zille will be put in charge of Twitter marketing. Soon she will sing the praises of colonialism and claim that the museum has a lot to offer to all those senile geezers who hark back to the times of singing God Save the Queen, but on closer scrutiny patrons will discover that the only reminder of colonial times is Naledi Pandor’s accent. Nomvula is put in charge of water supply, but she wants to run away from the haunted museum. She is convinced the walls whisper “Bosasa” at night. Lindiwe has to take over, but there is still no water supply as she has to split her time between the hair salon and consulting with her consultant. Petrus Johannes Groenewald, bar a short break has been part of the furniture in Parliament since 1989, but he will only participate in the museum if an additional tenth room is built for him as he insists upon developing separately. He has no idea where it should be built. Lindiwe drops in briefly, just to remind all in the asylum, sorry museum, that Human Settlement is also her purview and that Groenewald should be given a 2 by 3 m patch next to the outhouse, the latter an unfortunate necessity as she is too busy to provide Sanitation. “We must blame these outhouses on apartheid”, she shouts before running off to consult with her consultant. Petrus Johannes welcomes the advent of a new dawn and takes the patch next to the outhouse. Oorwinning vir die Volk! For the first time in forty odd years someone has noticed and listened to him. Soon a putrid odour emanates from the general direction of the outhouse and homeland. Ramaphosa says he is not aware of the rotten state of affairs. He has not seen or heard anything and he is unlikely to discover in this lifetime which of his special senses to utilize. Mbeki denies that something fishy is going on, but if you must, chuck some beetroot into the pit. Jacob Zuma occupies a special room with a view, where he is hidden from the neighbours, prying eyes and all those who claim to be his offspring. He is treated as deity, for as head of intelligence (an oxymoron, I know) he still has a docket on every inmate. Jacob’s erstwhile paramour, Nkosazana Dlamini, issues a decree that all should wear a kopdoek. Only the DA and Groenewald adhere to the dictate. Herman Mashaba says he will join, but only if he can run the museum. Shampoo and cosmetics will be supplied from surplus stock. Superficially all go well until Malema is put in charge of tenders and issued with a virtual card. Guzzi shoes and bunions everywhere. The audit trail is readily apparent, but Julius says he is not to blame for the expense account. It was his shadow who used a virtual card, not a real one. The Chinese Communist Party bails out the museum and hoists their flag at the entrance. The domain is overcrowded with Jacob’s floozies. All inconsequentials are requested to return to the farm. Holomisa says he wants his private army back before he will consider leaving the museum. The PAC Auntie demands more pet projects for the 5 IDs still alive. Almost daily, two gents, erstwhile best buddies, want to approach the High Court to create a semblance of order, but Steenhuisen and Miamane are not on speaking terms. Miamane appears much more comfortable in his new role as vicar/ preacher/ pastor to the museum of yesterday’s non heroes, but it has yet to dawn on him. The inhabitants are all beyond redemption. And the property belongs to the Chinese. Vote for freedom.Dr J ReidNeurologistFree Democrats of South Africa “When you put a clown into government, the clown doesn’t become a politician. Corrupt ANC and the Laffer Curve

POSTS & NEWS Corrupt ANC and the Laffer Curve An explanation of what South Africa needs 14 AUGUST 2026 Dr. Johan Reid 3 MIN READ Economist Arthur Laffer in 1974 formulated an economic theory, stating that an optimal tax rate exists that maximizes revenue without hindering economic growth. Lowering high tax rates can stimulate economic activity and potentially increase total tax revenue. Many economists believe that South Africa long ago passed the optimal point on the Laffer Curve, Current High Tax Rates are: suppressing economic activity, stifling job creation, limiting home ownership, encouraging tax emigration and most important, preventing substantial private capital investment. South Africa needs lower taxes, both nationally and locally. The relentless punishment of hard work, frugality and saving will only stop if we vote for lower taxes. The depraved ANC is responsible for punitive taxes at national level and the collectivist DA in Cape Town is hell-bent on nailing home owners at local level. This unhealthy mix is not smart. Not sustainable. What is Needed? Lower company, dividend and personal income taxes. Increase the primary rebate to R 300 000, meaning those who earn R 300k per year and less do not pay income tax. Scrap red tape and unnecessary government regulations. Reduce property rates and taxes by at least 15%. Privatize the SA economy. Private education, healthcare, rail, ports, energy generation, transport. Allow all home expenses, including bond finance and insurance cost, salaries and wages of gardeners and domestic workers, cost of security installations and monitoring fees, the entire monthly local authority utility bill and cost of maintenance and repairs AS INCOME TAX DEDUCTIBLE in the hands of the home owner. Dump high tax loving career politicians and collectivists.Vote for those who are willing to leave much more of your hard earned income in your pocket. The STATE and the sad profusion of lying socialists/ collectivists have failed all South Africans. Vote for freedom.Dr J ReidNeurologistFree Democrats of South Africa “If the state wishes to spend more, it can do so only by borrowing your savings or by taxing you more.” -Margaret Thatcher CATEGORIES All News Press Releases Policy Insights News Analysis Commentary RELATED ARTICLES 17 Aug 2026 Bumbling ANC and waiting for Godot 14 Aug 2026 Museum for Career Politicians 09 Aug 2026 Corrupt ANC and the Laffer Curve Join the movement.
